The Bidet or Washlet Story
Bidets are foreign to Americans, but perhaps not for much longer. Many bidet manufacturers make it possible to have one of the most advanced bidets in the world without remodeling your bathroom. Bidets can be bolted-on to most popular toilets and have advanced features such as:

  • Wireless remote control
  • Warm air dryers
  • Water temperature control
  • Seat temperature control
  • Water pressure control
  • and much more

Bidets are easy to install. You simply replace the toilet seat with the bidet. Hook up the water and electric and you are ready to enjoy the luxury and cleanness that a Bidet can offer. Most people can install a Bidet without hiring contractors to install the Bidet.

To promote cleanliness the nozzles spraying water extend out and emit a refreshing spray. Cleaning with water is more comfortable, more effective and above all more hygienic than toilet paper. The Bidet leaves you fresh and clean every time! The overall health benefit is that you will stop the spread of harmful germs and bacteria.

Bidet Health Benefits

Hemorrhoids
About 75% of all Americans will suffer from hemorrhoids at some time in their lives. Daily use of a bidet system allows the user the benefit of relief from warm soothing water spray and relieves aggravation of the affected and surrounding area by reducing irritating itching, swelling, and even bleeding.

Elderly and Physically Challenged
Maintaining personal cleanliness is extremely difficult for many arthritic and handicapped people; continuous daily use of the bidet brings benefits that make life measurably more comfortable and pleasant allowing the person to use the bathroom independently.

Feminine Hygiene
Feminine deodorants, douches, wipes and other commercial feminine hygiene items may be potentially harmful due to chemicals they may have. The daily use of a bidet system provides far better health benefits by using pure natural water to cleanse, and can really make a difference on minor feminine discomforts during menstruation and dramatically provide relief from other small common infections and discomforts.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Inflammatory Bowel Disease is the name of a group of disorders that cause the intestines to become inflamed (red and swollen). The inflammation lasts a long time and usually comes back over and over again. More than 600,000 Americans have some kind of inflammatory bowel disease every year.

If you have inflammatory bowel disease, you may have abdominal cramps and pain, diarrhea, weight loss and bleeding from your intestines. Two kinds of inflammatory bowel disease are Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Crohn's disease usually causes ulcers (open sores) along the length of the small and large intestines. Crohn's disease either spares the rectum, or causes inflammation or infection with drainage around the rectum. Ulcerative colitis usually causes ulcers in the lower part of the large intestine, often starting at the rectum.

Both ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease usually run a waxing and waning course in the intensity and severity of illness. When there is severe inflammation, the disease is considered to be in an active stage, and the person experiences a flare-up of the condition. When the degree of inflammation is less (or absent), the person usually is without symptoms, and the disease is considered to be in remission.

The use of a bidet is of great relief for people who suffer from inflammatory bowel disease, as well as many other diseases, because with the use of water, the need for irritating paper is reduced significantly.

Cystitis
Cystitis is the inflammation of the bladder. Cystitis can be due for example to infection from bacteria that ascend the urethra (the canal from the outside) to the bladder. Symptoms include a frequent need to urinate, often accompanied by a burning sensation. As cystitis progresses, blood may be observed in the urine and the patient may suffer cramps after urination. In young children, attempts to avoid the pain of cystitis can be a cause for daytime wetting (enuresis). Treatment includes avoiding irritants, such as perfumed soaps, near the urethral opening; increased fluid intake; and antibiotics. Untreated cystitis can lead to scarring and the formation of stones when urine is retained for long periods of time to avoid painful urination.

Urethritis
Urethritis is the inflammation of the urethra. (The urethra is the transport tube leading from the bladder to discharge urine outside the body). Urethritis can be due to several causes, including sexually transmitted diseases such as Chlamydia, or irritation. Treatment depends on the cause.

The bidet is very useful in dealing with certain urinary problems such as cystitis and urethritis, and other infections that may arise from the daily use of soap in the shower and undergarments.

General Health Benefits
Daily use of a bidet system has been proven to aid and relieve some of the most common ailments that may occur. For example, Constipation, Hemorrhoids, Urinary Tract Infections, Diarrhea, Feminine discomforts just to name a few. Many doctors agree that daily cleansing with natural water after bathroom use is a far smarter choice.

Dr. Dean Edell has been a long-time champion of Bidets. Maybe it is time for you to discover the benefits of installing a Bidet in your bathroom.
